JoomlaFCK – FCKeditor for Joomla

The JoomlaFCK-project, which integrates the powerful WYSIWYG-editor into Joomla, has released version 1.1.2 on 2006-01-17; this brings the JoomlaFCK module (mambot) up to a more recent FCKeditor version. You can download JoomlaFCK on here (hosted on

Edit: This project is now apparently called “JoomlaCK Editor” 🙂

  1. Buggy version, I had a lot of compatibility issues with IE 6.0 and firefox 1.5 with my current joomla 1.04 installation, I installed and replace my editor and got trouble everytime want to place and image or a flash object. I uninstalled and reinstalled with no luck. Some of the strange messages I’m getting are: “object expected” and/or simply doesn’t allow me to save what I’ve done in FCKeditor or doesn’t show up the working window. All permission under fckeditor are set to 777.

  2. I’ve been using the JoomlaFCK-mambot (or is it “jombot”?) for a while now and am mostly pleased with it. At least when comparing it with the alternatives. There are, however, some problems with the default configuration of JoomlaFCK. One default behavior

  3. I didn’t run into any particular browser compatibility problems. The editor is quite slow in loading, and there are problems with entities processing in its default configuration. But other than that, I’m quite content with what it does and how it does it.

  4. compare to JCE, I recomended all joomla users use fckeditor. why? because jce don’t follow joomla rule to save content!

    jce change some chars to html code! you can check the data in content table. only fckeditor (and built in tiny editor) that support original joomla contents.

  5. If I’m not mistaken, there’s information on how to complete the installation with the package. Enable the mambot after installation.

  6. This is perfect, it installed into Joomla 1.08 instantly, and worked first time. Excellent work guys.

    Without doubt the best editor avaiable, and now the best CMS system has the functions of the best Editor.

    I have spoke to loads of design companies and developers about FCK, and they all say, as i do, we would pay good money to use FCK, but its free.

  7. The editor interface doesn’t show up eventhough in the source code it is loaded and the formatting of the textfield is shown (FF 1.5 and IE6). Any ideas? Should I configure something of FCK?

  8. Installed and worked (nearly) first time
    only problem is with file browser (for graphics)
    my sub-domain is in a folder under my /public_html/ folder which itself is under root
    the file browser looks at root and doesn’t show the /public_html/ directory
    I want it to start looking in /public_html/ and no higher and also show sub-directories
    probably a simple edit – but what file, where?

  9. I found the following here:,com_mtree/task,viewlink/link_id,90/Itemid,35/#rev-7143

    in the mambot file fckeditor.php I replaced the line:
    oFCKeditor.BasePath = “$mosConfig_live_site/mambots/editors/fckeditor/” ;

    With this:
    oFCKeditor.BasePath = “/mambots/editors/fckeditor/” ;

    It seems the reference with the site included breaks everything. Now I’ve got a working FCKEditor integrated with my joomla installation. Tested in both firefox and ie7.

    **I tried it and it worked for me, good luck.

  10. Did you ever get an answer to this. I am also working in a subdirectory of the root site and anticipate building more sites this way. Is the FCK editor going to work in this situation??

  11. I have to say that I love the JoomlaFCK editor because it’s both beautiful and powerful!!! The HTML view in JoomlaFCK is so quick to load versus the popular JCE version. Its graphical interface offers a cool blue MS Word like toolset where the popular JCE is starting to look tired.
    JCE is still the leader because it been around longer and widely disbursed but JoomlaFCK is better !
